1/2 cup of soft butter
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of cocoa
1 tsp. of vanilla
2 eggs
2/3  cup of flour
1/2 cup of chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease an 8×8 pan
Mix butter, sugar and cocoa
Stir in eggs and vanilla
Add flour and chocolate chips
Spread into pan
Bake for 30 minutes
Cool and spread with chocolate icing

Chocolate Icing

3 Tbsp. of soft butter
2 Tbsp. of cocoa
1  1/2 cups of icing sugar
2 Tbsp. of milk
Add a little more milk for a thinner icing
Mix well and ice your cake

When I make this recipe for Christmas,
I put crushed candy canes on top.
